Redirect Http to Https WordpressFor the longest time, the Search Engine Journal WordPress website ran on an HTTP connection. We decided to migrate to HTTPS after Google confirmed that websites would not lose rankings when moving from HTTP to HTTPS.
Just recently, Google set July 2018 as the deadline for HTTPS implementation. The company warned publishers that, for any HTTP domains, Chrome will display a “not secure” label in the address bar. Redirect Http to Https Wordpress This means migrating to HTTPS is important now more than ever. In this post, I will share the experience I had from migrating the SEJ website to HTTPS and many other WordPress-based websites I’ve worked on. I’ll be assuming you have basic WordPress coding skills and have already installed an SSL certificate on your server, since most hosting providers offer that feature with one click.

With the click of a mouse button, you can send an email from one point of the globe to another in a matter of seconds. Most of us take this process for granted, giving little thought to how it actually works. It's easy to understand how standard snail-mail gets from point A to point B - but how does an email message make its way from a sender to a recipient? The answer to that question revolves around something called a mail server. You can learn more about the role that mail serves play in email delivery by reading on below. What Does Incoming Mail Server Mean? A mail server is the computerized equivalent of your friendly neighborhood mailman. Every email that is sent passes through a series of mail servers along its way to its intended recipient. Although it may seem like a message is sent instantly - zipping from one PC to another in the blink of an eye - the reality is that a complex series of transfers takes place. Without this series of mail servers, you would only be able to send emails to people whose email address domains matched your own - i.e., you could only send messages from one example.com account to another example.com account. Unlike on Windows, the command on Mac depends on which version of MacOS you're running. On all versions this starts by pressing the F4 key, then entering terminal in the search bar. Clear Dns Cache Mac If you're on MacOS Catalina, High Sierra, Sierra, El Capitan, Mavericks, Mountain Lion or Lion, enter the following: 'sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder' On MacOS Yosemite, the command is: 'sudo discoveryutil udnsflushcaches' WordPress hardcodes your site's domain name into the database in such things as image, link, and page URLs. This is a problem when you migrate the site to another domain name, or add an SSL certificate because clicking on links redirect back to the old site, or non-secure version. Find and Replace URL in Wordpress Database If you even need to migrate your WordPress site to a different domain name, or add an SSL certificate to it, you must update the URLs in your database in order for your site to function. You have two options to update the URLs in your database:
In order to receive mail in an email client like Outlook, Thunderbird or your mobile device’s email app, you’ll need to gather incoming mail server information. This includes the address of the incoming mail server, the port its software runs on, and what type of mail server (POP3 or IMAP) it is. While tracking down that much information may seem daunting, everything’s readily available and easy to configure once you know where it’s hiding.
